These are ideal for double diagonal (and triple diagonal) strip planking where the staples are to be left in the planking because it is too difficult to remove them. They are also the fastening of choice anywhere else parts must be held in place whilst the glue sets, and where the fastening cannot be removed, such as with some forms of strip planking.
Monel is a nickel alloy, composed mostly of nickel together with copper and a small amount of iron and some trace elements. It is highly resistant to corrosion, and extremely well suited to marine applications. It is completely non magnetic. It is very close to the bronzes and copper on the galvanic table. It must how-ever be insulated from other dissimilar metals to avoid setting up galvanic corrosion couples. They should not be used in ACQ treated timber, as this will result in galvanic corrosion.
