FILM THICKNESS.

For best protection on steel a film thickness of 50 - 65 u above the surface profile is recommended.

ADHESION

Feronite Primer adheres well to a variety of substrates including steel, cast iron, phosphated steel, galvanised iron, concrete, and most paints including shop primers.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

Feronite Primer has a good balance of hardness, flexibility and abrasion resistance. Typical results for a 65 u film are as follows:

Falling weight	3 mm indent	pass
Flexibility	6 mm bend	pass
Erichsen test	10 mm indent	pass
(DIN 53156)
Scratch hardness		2000 gm

Properties of an unsupported film are

Yield stress	1	MPa
Ultimate tensile strength	2,5	MPa
Water vapour permeability	20 gm/25 u thickness/m²/24 hr

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Feronite Primer when fully cured resists spillage from a wide range of corrosive chemicals including strong acids and alkalis, aliphatic solvents, alcohols, glycols, petrol and diesel oil. Not resistant to immersion in aromatic solvents, animal or vegetable oils, It is resistant to immersion in both salt and fresh water, (However, long term corrosion protection is entirely determined by the type and thickness of paint topcoats applied),
