The GoatIsland Skiff has seemed to have struck a chord. Usually when a design appears in Australian Amateur Boatbuilder, it gets interest for a few months and then fades out. WEith the Goat Island Skiff, interest seems consistentand plans are still being sent off after nine years.
One of the big problems with photos of quick boats is that as they make so little fuss as they travel through the water that they don't look like they are doing much. Definitely a quick boat. Maybe it doesn't have the top end of a modern racing boat, but it is not going to be embarrassed by any non trapeze type on any point of sail and most windstrengths.
The Goat Island Skiff is the most popular of Michael Storer's plans. The reason is that it is really pretty, it is really light and it is versatille. It rows well as well.
