As the revival in wooden boat building continues to gather strength, this design sets out to grab a share of the metal boat market, challenging the mass market controlled by the aluminium "tinnie".
Designed for amateur construction in plwood, a standard layout and structure is drawn and many people would find that it suits, with a few detail changes or additions, easily done in ply epoxy construction. More significant changes such as repositioning thwarts, different scantlings, more freeboard or even the idea of building as a lapstrake hull can also be considered, and the designer is happy to discuss these ideas with clients. In this way you are not restricted by what the factory offers and are able to customize your own boat. The hull uses 6mm and 4 mm ply with oregon (hoop pine ) and cedar longitudinals. the boat can use up to 15hp outboard and should weigh 40 to 44 kgs.
