My round bilge designs for the 4.24 m long single has its origins in the local watermen's craft used on Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River. I documented and drew plans for the Sydney Heritage Fleets waterman skiff Kate in the early 1990s, and inspired by the shape of that craft I prepared my own designs.
At 4.24m long, the round bilged single seat design can be built in strip plank,(6mm WR Cedar and 200gsm fabric) or multi ply strakes, 4 or 6mm thick. It is also an open water boat, about 1.1m wide.
The plans cover construction/arrangement and full size templates for the mould stations and stem profile.
Two versions of the 4.24m design: the top one was built professionally as a glued lap strake hull. A separate design was sourced for the rowing seat and riggers.
