Designed as a bigger version of the Woodie, this is another simple craft which can be customized to suit individual requirements during and after construction. The plywood construction is based around 6mm marine grade plywood for planking, thwarts and foredeck. Multiple layers can be laminated together to increase the transom thickness. 200gsm fabric is recommended to reinforce the hull bottom, and dynel for the topsides. Longitudinal timbers are hoop pine, orgenon or similar.
A 25hp outboard is recommended, and the 4 stroke models, although heavier are more environmentally sound and should be sued in preference to the 2 stroke engines. The boat can be fitted with positive flotation for full load. It can be built to 4.26m length overall if preferred, details are shown how to adjust the transom and read thwart positions. the finished weight will vary according to materials chosen. A robust craft built of Hoop Pine plywood will be heavier than one using Gaboon or Pacific Maple ( pink marine ) plywood. Somewhere between 120 and 140kgs is the likely result, on par with an aluminium boat.
Plans are two sheets, one with the layout and construction details, the other with full size templates for the mould frames, profile, transom and joint details.
