A powerful oxalic acid based wood cleaner and bleach. Helps return timber which has become grey due to weathering to a new(er) appearance. GREY DECK CLEANER is also useful for cleaning and removing rust stains.
GREY DECK CLEANER can be used as a bleaching agent for wood and stone. Wood, when exposed to the elements, has it surface layer oxidise and turn gray. When oxalic acid is applied on an old, oxidised wood surface, it brings back the wood's natural white colour. Actually, this acid is often used when preparing to stain old wood floors. It is also used by furniture manufacturers to lighten heavily stained areas of wood furniture in preparation for refinishing.
GREY DECK CLEANER is ideal for use as a deck wash for cleaning grey or blackened decks and all other exterior woodwork. It can be used on all types of timber and is especially useful for cleaning blackened and weathered Western Red Cedar weatherboards. Timber which has been previously coated with Linseed Oil or some other similar finish, may require vigorous scrubbing to clean off the discolouration.
Directions For Use
Dissolve 50g of GREY DECK CLEANER in 500ml of water (i.e. a 10% solution).
Using a stiff brush, clean weathered timber using the mixed solution.
Wash the timber down thoroughly afterwards with water or a high pressure cleaner. This process may have to be repeated for timber that has weathered for some time.
Ensure timber being cleaned is allowed sufficient time to dry before application of oils or paints.
