Feonite Rusty Metal primer and Feronite Rust Converter
Feronite is a best in category rust retardant. This is the product to use for maximum life extension when sand blasting is not an option. The Feronite Rusty Metal Primer converts the surface rust into a complex, impervious tannate compound, the Feronite also includes a rust inhibbitor and finally it primes the metal with a very high quality water barrier resin. The product is being used on off shore oil rigs, commercial fishing boats, railway assets and on just about any steel item which has rust and needs to have its life extended. Feronite is superior to all those run of the mill primers because it is much less acidic, and so it does not do nearly as much damage to any remaining galvanizing.
The reduced need for preparation of the surface is a huge advantage. It enables quick running repairs to be done rather than having to take the asset out of use to prepare the steel with blasting.
Feronite Rusty Metal Primer converts the rust, seals the rusty area and primes the job, all with a single product. If the item is subject to high temperatures (over 70C or 80C) then Feronite Rust Converter is a better product, although you will then have to apply a suitable high temperature primer over the converted area.
HMAS Diamantina in the Queensland Maritime Museum is protected by Feronite Rusty Metal Primer. The Australian National Maritime Museum use Feronite Rusty Metal Primer to help extend the life of its assets. Some naval vessels use it to stop corrosion when inevitable bumps and knocks occur, The commercial fishing fleet uses lots to extend the life of their steel equipment.
