This fairlead is designed to go on the Starboard side near the bow of a small boat.  It guides a mooring line or bow line so that the line leads cleanly onto the boat and to the mooring cleat or bollard.  Possibly its most important task is to prevent the line chaffing the finish off the timber and waering the timber itself.  It is usual to have a Left hand one on the port side and a Right hand one on the Starboard side.

We recommend that they are attached with qty 3 flat head silicon bronze 6 gauge woodscrews.
