Woven Fibre Glass

Woven Fibre Glass

Woven fiberglass cloths are very common for marine & composite construction and repair. Light weight plain weave fibre glass cloths can provide a smooth finish and are excellent for producing a waterproofing layer over wood or other surfaces when combined with epoxy resin. The very light weight woven fibre glass cloths are popular with model aircraft builders. Applied carefully, they become almost invisible. Heavier cloths will provide greater strength and overall rigidity.

Epoxy - woven fibreglass composites are not quite as rigid as epoxy - stitched fibreglass composites because the zig zag pattern of the cloth tends to straighten out a little bit under load.

We stock plain weave, the most basic woven fibereglass cloth,  2,2 twill weave, satin weave and crowsfoot (a type of satin weave). fiber glass. These weaves are useful on curved surfaces as they are more conformable, that is they will drape more easily and smoothly over a curved surface.
