Rowing Skiffs

Rowing is one of the best forms of exercise, with a worldwide popularity. These different designs allow you to get on the water with a boat to suit your skills and the conditions on your particular waterway.

The Tamar Skiff will be the easiest to put together, while the strip plank hulls will take a few weeks longer. Although the lapstrake boats look more complicated, once you have a plank or two down, the process speeds up quite a bit.

These boats are a project that will spread out over a couple of months or longer, especially if you only have weekends to work on the project.

  • 4.24m Single Rowing Skiff
My round bilge designs for the 4.24 m long single has its origins in the local watermen's craft used on Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River. I documented and drew plans for the Sydney Heritage Fleets waterman skiff Kate in the early 1990s, and inspired by the shape of that craft I prepared my own designs. At 4.24m long, the round bilged single seat design can be built in strip plank,(6mm... My round bilge designs for the 4.24 m long single has its origins in the local ...
