The silicon bronzes are probably the most used of all the bronze alloys around boats. The basic alloy is copper plus 1% to 3% of silicon and these alloys are acknowledged for their strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

It is important to use silicon bronze nuts and washers with silicon bronze bolts, otherwise electrolysis will occur between the different metals.
