A vacuum bag film is used to surround the laminate, sealing it up so that the vacuum pump can extract all the air and so use the pressure of the atmosphere to squeeze the materials together.  In the case of vacuum infusion, this will allow the vacuum to draw the resin material into the laminate work piece.

It can be used either as a tube (which is how it is supplied) by putting the item to be laminated inside it and sealing the ends with vacuum bag sealant tape, or it can be cut down one edge and opened out flat to use as a cover over the top of the work piece.

The most commonly used material is Nylon.  It has good strength, high flexibility and excellent stretchability which allows the bag to pull down over complex shapes without tearing.

The bag must be made completely airtight so that a full vacuum can be drawn.  This is done use our vacuum bag sealant tapes.  WE also supply vacuum hose and fittings so that the pump can be connected to the vacuum bag.
