10M Motor Launch

Starting at: $22.00

The distinctive design of the Queensland Moreton Bay cruisers and the Halvorsen cruisers from NSW has been incorporated into this motor launch commissioned from our Sydney based naval architect David Payne. With many appropriate semi protected waterways around Australia, this is an ideal boat for leisurely weekend and holiday cruising. The hull construction offers the alternatives of plywood with external fibreglass reinforcement, or fibreglass reinforced cedar strip plank construction. The plywood version uses 2 x 9 mm layers for the hull bottom and 2 x 6 mm layers for the topsides, with 400 gsm biaxial reinforcement overall. The alternative cedar strip planked hull is modified so that the hard chine becomes radiused throughout, it has an 18 mm thick core with a combination of 400 and 600 gsm double bias fabrics used internally and externally. The planking is supported by typical longitudinals at the keel, chine, and sheer, with transverse floors and 12 mm thick plywood bulkheads. The fitout items such as berth tops, sole, and benches also bond to the hull to add additional strength. The cabin structure is also 12 mm plywood reinforced with 300 gsm biaxial glass. Under the sole there is generous space for 200 l. each of fuel and water tanks. Fuel tanks are preferably fabricated from stainless steel, but there is the option of integral tanks. The single diesel engine is installed in a well insulated box in the centre of the saloon, where it combines very neatly and unobtrusively with the saloon table. A diesel engine of 35 to 38 HP is recommended, and all the major manufacturers have suitable engines in this range. Their dimensions allow any of the engines to fit neatly under the saloon table, indeed the most compact model will actually fit below the cabin sole. The boat has a double bunk forward, with further sleeping accommodation utilising the saloon settees. The enclosed head includes a shower and modern chemical toilet. The galley is fully equipped, including a large refrigerator compartment directly accessible from both the galley and from the saloon for drinks. The fully protected steering position inside the saloon has total all around visibility. A flying bridge is quite inappropriate to the lines of this boat, and we don’t recommend it for windage.
